Genre Trailers - 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' (1999)

- Although this is a thriller with some horror conventions, this has been analysed because I want to use some thriller conventions within my horror
- Relationship triangles between the 3 main Protagonists
- A clever calculated antagonist who sets out to destroy relationships and get what they want
- Mysterious music
- Secrets and deception (Tom ripley stealing his identity)
- Another convention is the antagonist tormenting other characters with a devious plan (Tom ripely taking the identity)
- Antagonist with mental psychological issues and uncertainty (Tom)
- Climatical where things turn dangerous and secrets get unraveled
- Equilibrium and disrupt when Tom Ripely enters their life
- Dramatic irony (the audience know Tom had been spying on them)
- Tense attempts to repair disruption (trying to get to the bottom of Tom’s secrets)
- Dramatic and climatically music when tense moments occur and plots are unraveled
- A convention of characterisation is that the antagonist is a sociopath
