Genre Trailers - 'Single White Female'

 

• Characters who perhaps have psychological issues
• Mysterious music creating enigma
• The film will start with a normal equilibrium 
• A mysterious character that is hiding something and disrupts the equilibrium can be a convention
• Dark lighting and jump scares can be used to create the enigma surrounding the narrative or character
• Another convention is deception and secretes 
• Relationships can be damaged from an outsider who is normally the antagonist (The new flat mate)
• There will often be violence towards the protagonist from the antagonist (The 2 women)
• The protagonist will often find out the truth surrounding the antagonist and this will result in confrontation and potential danger (When she finds out the antagonist is stealing her identity)
• Another convention is when the protagonist is in danger (tied up by the antagonist) they will try to appeal to their emotional side to try get themselves out of the situation
• Finally, towards the end of the film, there will be a tense scene where we don’t know if the protagonist will live or die (however the protagonist usually survives)
