• A voyeuristic shot spying on another character which creates dramatic irony
• Another convention of this genre is the outsider becomes involved in the relationship of characters that she’s been spying on
• A major disruption occurs - in this case the women goes missing and the protagonist is somehow involved
• Another convention is violence, where characters can be put in danger, and the antagonist plays a part of this (the girl on the train is potentially part of the danger and violence occurring)
• Another convention is lots of strange goings on that disrupt the equilibrium for the main characters
