Although this is a thriller with some horror conventions, this has been analysed because I want to use some thriller conventions within my horror
Mysterious music to start the narrative
Problems and vulnerability surrounding the protagonist as her husband has been unfaithful
An outsider (Antagonist Noah) moves in next door and enters the women’s life without her control
Antagonist has a troubled background
Shots of the antagonist standing over the female (used a lot in films like this to show power and control
Dramatic music and additional disrupt occurs when the protagonist has a sexual encounter with Noah making her more vulnerable
Antagonist starts becoming obsessive and stalking the female by turning up at her house and class. (A key convention of the psychological thriller genre)
Antagonist becomes dominant and calculating (sending the email to school) to assert power and control
Violence and danger as Noah becomes more obsessed. (gun in shot)
The antagonist becomes obsessive and danger occurs and the protagonist (the mum) has to escape his clutches when she finds out he clearly will stop at nothing
