Trailer TV Spots - 'Barbie' (2023)


  • Much shorter in length at approximately 30 seconds
  • Production company logo (warner brothers) is displayed first in pink to match barbie theme
  • The audience are taken into the narrative straight away through dialogue and introduced to the first character which is Margot Robbie
  • The main plot is revealed to the audience but the scenes are cut very quickly in order to fit the tie frame of the tv spot
  • The sound track is prominent, loud and captivating
  • The scenes are cut to show the journey of the character but also to show the main A list actors who help market the film
  • Again, this tv spot shows the different genres in the film such as comedy, romance and action (This helps to widen the audience) because it’s showing the hybridity
  • The text ‘From Director Greta Gerwig’ helps endorse the film and gives it a sense of quality
  • The trailer continues showing important parts of the narrative and again uses enigma to cut the narrative and act as a cliffhanger, encouraging the audience to go and watch the film
  • The main actors ‘Margot Robbie’ and ‘Ryan gosling’ are shown on the titles and this again helps market the film through their popularity
  • The trailer ends with slightly comical dialogue which is a convention as it leads the audience with a positive feeling about the film
  • The ‘Barbie’ title/logo is then shown which is a key convention within a trailer
  • A voiceover then gives information about the film and the release date whilst this is also displayed on the screen
