These are the conventions of film trailers I have found:
- A variety of different scenes from the film shown (these are often the plot highlights)
- Fast editing cuts of different scenes from the film - (sometimes montage)
- Lots of enigmas used to build up excitement for the film
- Often an opening hook to grab attention (sometimes establishing shot used)
- Voiceover or narration
- Soundtrack and music to build excitement
- Production companies shown within the trailer (to sometimes show quality)
- Title of the film is often shown at the end of the trailer
- Text overlays - this information often shows release dates or extra information
- Actors and actresses can be displayed to attract audiences
- Genre conventions are shown within the trailer to ensure the audience recognise which genre the film is
- Often the best parts of the film are shown within the trailer, highlighting the exciting parts which builds up the buzz around the film. The trailer often ends with something positive, comical or enigmatic
