Analysing Existing Genre Billing Blocks in Film Posters - 'The Talented Mr. Ripley'

• The billing block follows the traditional hierarchy with an emphasis on Anthony Minghella as he was both director and screenwriter and he was very well known for the award winning film ‘The English Patient’. This shows an important selling point to the film.
• The primary cast feature with notable actors like ‘Matt Damon’, ‘Gwyneth’, ‘Jude Law’ and ‘Cate Blanchett’. These names are A list actors and are put in order of importance (Matt Damon is the main character). 
• The actor ‘Phillip Seymour Hoffman’ appears in the secondary billing below as he isn't a main character.
• The bottom billing features producers such as ‘Sydney Pollack’ and ‘William Horberg’. These names are smaller than the primary cast. in addition, key technical roles like cinematography ect are credited. 
• Production company’s and distributers are credit at the bottom e.g. ‘Miramax Films’ which is in bold as its known for its Oscar winning films so will be a selling feature.
• There is usually a line at the bottom as seen in this poster which relates to copywriters and film rating information.
• The design and layout of the billing credits uses a classic uppercase font and showcases the production theme and cast.
