Potential Music For My Trailers

I have used the following website to research potential music pieces for my trailers:

Website for Music

The piece of music ‘Watch Out’ will be really effective because it creates a lot of tension and suspense. The music signals imminent danger which shows a sense of threat on the victim and I would like to use this music when the antagonist (stalker) is spying on his victims. The music would position the audience into feeling fearful and would feel a sense of personal identification with the victim. The trailers would use dramatic irony as the audience would know the antagonist is spying and the music would work alongside this.

The piece of music ‘Hydra” would be effective for an opening because its a little bit faster in pace and it could be used when the antagonist is carrying out some of his dark and sinister plots. The music features crescendos and builds up the action and suspense which creates anticipation for the audience and keeps them engaged in the narrative. The music is quite modern and has an edgy sound to it, this can make the film seem more intense and stylish, targeting a modern audience.

This music is effective for horror because it reinforces the psychological tension and is connoting unpredictability which puts the audience on edge. The pace of the music creates tension and suggests that the narrative will be fearful and that the victims may be in danger. The music is eery which links to the dark side of the narrative and the contrast within the beat of the music reflects the changing narrative of calm VS disruption.

The ‘Lofi Noir’ music can fit the horror genre because it sets an atmosphere which creates suspense and enigma. The beat within the music creates an unsettling calm ambience which will keep the audience in suspense as they watch the narrative unfold. In addition, the pace within the music creates a slow buildup of suspense and this links to the conventions of the psychological horror genre. The effect of this music on the audience will engage them into the narrative and help build the tension that is imperative within the horror genre.

The effect of this ‘Morgan’s Fake Scare - Steve Jablosnky’ music helps build suspense and gives indication that something isn’t right. The eerie sound and low tones connote a sense of fear. This music helps create a sense of fear and makes the audience feel a little bit emotionally off balance. This music worked really well for 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and if I was to use this track, it would also create intertextuality and a sense of nostalgia for the audience.
